Abstract

The paper introduces two successful entrepreneurial cases of micro companies from towns in North Central Bulgaria with similar current SME indicators. In 2001-2006 Bulgaria’s North Central region registered a slow decrease of private enterprise and newly registered SMEs. It slowly becomes unattractive for all sizes of businesses. Micro-enterprises’ share declines, wholesale and retail trade remaining first choice among them, hotel and restaurant-keepers catching up. Cases observe what are the initial choices and decisions in different economic fields (production and service sectors), the industry situation, stages of expansion and business profiling. Further development and perspectives are provided after each case.
