Abstract

This chapter examines Muslim philanthropy in the United States. This chapter supplies a context of Muslim philanthropy by providing a history of the Muslim nonprofit sector, its emergence, and its existence today. In the second part, this chapter supplies an overview of Muslim philanthropy by looking at Muslim donors. Using original surveys provides a context of the causes that Muslims like to support while comparing Muslim philanthropy with other major Abrahamic religions and comparing racial differences among Muslims themselves.
