Abstract

What does the term “human right” mean? What is meant by “the morality of human rights”-and what, as a general matter, is the content of that morality? Are human rights moral rights? Are they legal rights? We address, in this chapter, those preliminary questions concerning the morality of human rights before addressing, in the next chapter, the most fundamental question one can ask about the morality of human rights.
