Abstract

In this chapter we develop the approach of the technological paradigm distinguishing, on the one hand, a micro technological paradigm and a macro techno-economic paradigm, on the other. We deal with the elements at the core of a new micro ‘technological paradigm’ shaped by technological frugality. Three aspects define it: fewer artefacts and functionalities, a decreasing technological complexity, a design simplification. When we consider technological frugality as a new macro techno-economic paradigm we show its strong relation to sustainability.
