Abstract

This chapter provides an overview of the issues that non-native English authors face when writing for English language journals and offers a set of suggestions to support the enhancement of their writing style. The chapter is divided into four parts. The first part outlines the debate on the relevance that English has in scientific writing. The second part describes the difficulties of thinking, writing and disseminating in a non-native language. The third part presents suggestions on writing structure, style and clarity. The final part discusses “the art of writing” for top English language journals.
