Abstract

There has been a softening of borders separating various coastal cities since the Chinese government launched the Greater Bay Area (GBA) as a city cluster along the lines of other world bay areas. Evidence of intensified greater mobilities that have followed is giving rise to potential opportunities for inter-city collaborations. Heritage is a critical and common cultural resource across the GBA cities and can potentially contribute to tourism by enriching cultural experience and enhancing collective destination image. This chapter explores the application of one derivative, namely, experiencescape, as a medium to analyze tourism experience contexts. Only a few tourism scholars have applied experiencescape to planning and policymaking. This chapter highlights the merits of adopting experiencescape as a holistic concept encompassing diverse experience offerings. Various cultural assets of the GBA cities may contribute to potential clustering effects.
