Abstract

The digital transformation is going to determine important changes in the transport sector. Such changes will involve mainly vehicles, infrastructures, and transport related documents. They will affect not only the relationships between the enterprises operating in the logistic sector, but also their clients and the public bodies having competence in such area. A great effort will be required to SMEs in order to preserve their room in such a new scenario, but they will also have some important new opportunities. This chapter delves into the regulatory framework governing digitalization in the transport sector, with particular reference to innovation in electronic transport documents and port community systems.
