Agricultural cooperatives in Latin America: the case of dairy

Abstract

This chapter discusses the current situation of dairy cooperatives in Latin America. We analyze the reason for the formation of dairy cooperatives and the role that cooperatives have had in the dairy sector. We describe the historical trends and current status of the dairy cooperative sector in ten countries of the regi—n with significant cooperative development. Last, conclusions and suggestions for future research on dairy cooperatives in Latin America are presented.
