Abstract

Investor relations and financial communications are highly important functions of corporate communication responsible for building and maintaining mutually beneficial relationships primarily with sophisticated and powerful audiences. The process of digitalization has a significant impact on the process of managing these relationships by expanding participation in investment activities, raising informational demands on corporations, affecting the day-to-day work of investor relations professionals, and creating new channels of communication between corporations and the investment community. Yet, such impact may not always be direct. Large corporations promote dialogic in-person communications in their relationship management with investors and utilize digital channels to enhance such in-person communications. When in-person communications are not available, investors themselves employ more and more digital tools, such as processing data using AI programs and discussing investment decisions and sharing information about corporations in social media. As a result, digitalization demands investor relations practitioners become expert listeners and data scientists.
