Abstract

Sustainability, and thus sustainability transitions, challenges our traditional view of technology and how we create value through technology. It also challenges our traditional view of how we manage technology, and this calls for more informed, nuanced and sophisticated constructs about the management of technology within the context of sustainability transitions. This chapter presents the Integrated Technology Management-oriented Sustainability Transitions (ITMST) methodology. The ITMST methodology outlines a systematic and structured approach in order to provide the basis for the definition and identification of technology management considerations within the context of sustainability transitions.
