Economic insecurity and poverty

Abstract

Economic insecurity is a relevant dimension of well-being. So far, there are a variety of approaches and methodologies to measure it and empirical results are only available for a limited number of countries. This chapter provides an up-to-date review of the literature on the topic, discussing the concept, interpreting the main empirical findings and giving some hints about the relationship between economic insecurity and poverty.
