Conclusion: a European industrial policy for the twenty-first century

In: EU Industrial Policy in the Multipolar Economy

Author

Listed:
  • Riccardo Perissich

Abstract

In this conclusion, the author recalls the complexity of the interaction between industrial policy and competition policy; between the EU institutions and its member states; between European economic policies and geopolitics. This conclusion shows that purely theoretical and ideological doctrines are irrelevant to grasp how industrial policy evolves in reality. The author stresses the need to deepen and regulate the Single Market while developing a coherent geopolitical strategy and commercial diplomacy vis-Ã -vis the main economic and geopolitical powers: the US, China and Russia
