Abstract

The innovation orientation of business service companies requires looking at potential measures of business performance to find a benchmark for future research on the impact of IO. This chapter reviews various economic performance measures, highlighting their relevance to service sector research. Later in the chapter, the above considerations have been extended to include a proposal of the theoretical concept of the DIOM tool (Dimensions of Innovation Orientation Measurement) for measuring innovation orientation in the service industry, which may be a starting point for further research conducted worldwide in services. The authors present proposals for statements that can create components of the adopted dimensions described in this book as research structures. Because the innovation orientation of companies is still relatively unexplored, several potential paths for further research in three areas - internal, external and methodological, have been proposed.
