Abstract

This contribution surveys significant contributions technological innovations have made to humans' economic and material welfare, the seminal analysis made by noted economists, and the supportive policy data collection and policy changes that contribute to a conducive environment for innovation. It reviews some suggested business structures and government policies to encourage innovation and the role of "national champion" enterprises in advancing innovation.
