PEPs and constitutions as AML instruments

Abstract

This short chapter explains the importance of national constitutions in combating money laundering. It notes the potential conflict between the enjoyment of constitutional rights by PEPs and the requirements of FATF Recommendations as well as the manner in which PEPs can use their constitutional powers to undermine its effectiveness.
