Abstract

The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB) is one of the most representative mega infrastructure projects in China in the 21st century that connects areas of Hong Kong, China; Zhuhai and Macao, China. It has many significant features, such as great investment, complex structure, and coordination among departments of the three places. To explore the project management progress and the story behind construction, the author conducted an in-depth interview with Mr. Zhu Yongling, the leader of Main Bridge part of HZMB project. Biographical research approach was used to explore the story of Mr. Zhu along with his experience and insight of the project management for HZMB. Many insights were drawn and discussed in the chapter around the topics of Mr. Zhu’s experiences, unique attributes of this mega infrastructure project, and interacted mechanism between them that lead to a successful mega infrastructure project, so as to be referenced by similar projects in the future.
