Abstract

Considering how these partnerships achieve success, effective community partnerships are mission driven. They focus on larger anchor institutions and could grapple with complexities in community and economic development. If community partnerships can harness resources across sectors and leverage philanthropy, anchor institutions, corporations, and other organizations possessing resources that can be of value to communities in order to strengthen the capacity of community-based nonprofits, they can enhance the voice and civic engagement of grassroots communities. Challenges faced by community partnerships include time consumption in the process of developing partnerships, different priorities among institutions, and institutions' insufficient capacity to engage community and to respond to the COVID-19 Pandemic in a sustainable way.
