Abstract

Durante 1951-1963 las autoridades colombianas pasaron de valorar a desatender la macroeconomía pese a los acuerdos constitutivos del FMI definidos en la Conferencia de Bretton Woods. En 1951, 1957 y 1962 Colombia implemento tres programas de estabilización macroeconómica; el primero fueron la implementación de las recomendaciones del BIRF o Banco internacional; el segundo fue bajo un acuerdo de crédito contingente con el FMI y el tercero igual. Este capítulo está compuesto por cinco secciones: la primera explica los programas de estabilización y su relativo éxito; la segunda muestra cómo el objetivo de la estabilidad macroeconómica fue cediendo al objetivo del fomento del desarrollo del desarrollo, debido al ascenso del modelo o norma desarrollista de banca central; la tercera presenta el contexto internacional; la cuarta hace un recuento del período 1951-1963; y en la quinta sección se ofrecen las conclusiones.
