Abstract

El objetivo de este capítulo es examinar los cambios después de que el Estado colombiano pudiera recuperar de las manos privadas el ejercicio de la soberanía monetaria, como se conformo la Junta Monetaria y como se dirigieron a la política cambiaria, monetaria y crediticia hasta mediados 1991. Este objetivo se complementa con análisis y la contextualización de la economía colombiana entre 1963-1990. En este capitulo también se ven temas como el crecimiento económico, la evolución del Gobierno, expansión del sector financiero, proceso inflacionario y la indexación de la economía. También hace un énfasis muy especial en explicar el manejo de la Junta y las controversias que vivió por parte de quienes no notaban un verdadero compromiso con la estabilidad de los precios por parte de la Junta. Así mismo se resaltan los puntos críticos y la reforma a la institución. El capítulo termina con una síntesis de la naturaleza jurídica del Banco de la República en sus tareas administrativas hasta fines de los años sesenta, cuando el Banco quedo a cargo del crédito dirigido.
