Abstract

La segunda Misión Kemmerer a Colombia en 1930 se centró en obtener préstamos norteamericanos y legitimar recortes presupuestales y aumentos de impuestos. El historiador Paul Drake argumenta que esta misión ocurrió fundamentalmente por razones políticas. Puntos clave 1. La segunda Misión Kemmerer se enfocó en generar confianza entre los banqueros norteamericanos para obtener préstamos. 2. El objetivo principal era sanear las finanzas públicas colombianas y obtener acceso a capitales norteamericanos. 3. La misión también tenía fines políticos internos, como legitimar recortes presupuestales y aumentos de impuestos. 4. La misión representaba una calidad y profesionalismo técnicos imposibles de lograr en la Colombia de 1930. 5. Cuatro de los siete miembros de la misión tenían un Ph.D. y amplia trayectoria profesional. Importancia La segunda Misión Kemmerer fue crucial para la economía colombiana en 1930, ya que buscaba obtener préstamos norteamericanos y legitimar reformas económicas. La misión representó una oportunidad para que Colombia mejorara su situación financiera y económica.
