Abstract

El texto analiza la relación entre el Banco de la República y el gobierno de Colombia en la emisión y circulación de monedas. El Banco se opuso a la emisión de monedas de plata para cambiar la plata antigua en Nariño y Chocó, ya que consideraba que esto comprometería sus reservas metálicas. A pesar de la oposición inicial, el Banco finalmente acogió la medida. También se critica la emisión de una moneda especial para los lazaretos, considerada ilegal y perjudicial para el Banco. El texto destaca la importancia de la autonomía y la independencia del Banco de la República para proteger sus reservas metálicas y su estabilidad financiera.
