Abstract

El texto analiza la relación entre el Banco de la República y el gobierno, enfatizando la importancia de la independencia del Banco. Se destaca que la ley orgánica del Banco establece su autonomía y limita la representación del gobierno en su Junta Directiva. Se menciona que el Banco Nacional, un banco anterior, fue transformado en un banco oficial y dirigió el país hacia un régimen de papel moneda inconvertible, lo que generó escándalos financieros y afectó al régimen político. El texto también destaca la importancia de que el Banco de la República se muestre celoso de sus prerrogativas y aleje la posibilidad de que el gobierno invada su esfera de acción. Se citan conceptos de la misión financiera y del profesor Kemmerer que enfatizan la importancia de la independencia del Banco y la necesidad de resistir cualquier intento de usurpación por parte del gobierno.
