Abstract

La "Exposición" de José Ignacio de Márquez, publicada en 1831, es un documento económico importante de la Gran Colombia. En él, Márquez analiza la hacienda pública y el sistema tributario, y destaca los obstáculos que enfrenta la agricultura, como la propiedad amortizada en manos de instituciones religiosas y la falta de espíritu empresarial y conocimientos agrícolas. También critica la cantidad de días festivos, que considera perjudiciales para la producción y el bienestar de los labradores. La visión de Márquez sobre la propiedad en la agricultura fue premonitoria de la expropiación de bienes de manos muertas que se aplicó décadas más tarde. Márquez fue un político y abogado colombiano que ocupó varios cargos importantes, incluyendo el de presidente de la república. Su gobierno se caracterizó por el fomento del civilismo, el proteccionismo económico y la promoción de la educación.
