Abstract

Trata sobre el período comprendido entre 1935 y 1945 el cual se solidificaron muchos de los procesos iniciados a finales de los años veinte y comienzos de la década del treinta, el período se puede dividir en dos partes. Por un lado, entre 1935 y 1939 existió una relativa prosperidad, a pesar de las limitaciones al comercio exterior. En esta época, el país se vio obligado a equilibrar su balanza comercial, puesto que el mercado internacional de capitales estuvo cerrado y era imposible financiar con créditos externos un déficit de la cuenta corriente de la balanza de pagos y el período comprendido entre 1940 y 1944 también se caracterizó por el enorme déficit fiscal a lo cual el Banco de la República se acomodó a la nueva estrategia fiscal y a los acontecimientos del sector externo.
