Descripción del desmonte del patrón oro en Inglaterra y otros países en 1931, lo cual influyó para que Colombia tomara la misma decisión en el mismo año; igualmente menciona la creación del Banco Central Hipotecario, para la financiación de vivienda y hace el análisis de la devaluación, gastos públicos y las rentas del gobierno hasta 1950.||*Este capítulo se encuentra incluido en la III parte del libro Historia del Banco de la República 60 años, titulada "Evolución institucional del Banco de la República"
