Descripción de las funciones de los bancos centrales, la historia de la emisión monetaria, la importancia y la formación del dinero, cómo se formó el sistema bancario y la finalidad de los billetes de banco. Por último, tiene un apéndice sobre los procesos que realiza el Banco de la República, por medio de la Tesorería y de acuerdo con la Junta Directiva y la Junta Monetaria.||*Este capítulo se encuentra incluido en la IV parte del libro Historia del Banco de la República 60 años, titulada "Las funciones de Banca Central"
