Abstract

Do we need to Islamize economics or to create a new science? This question, which resulted from the debates of the first International Conference on Islamic Economics – and which escapes many researchers – has not only led this new field of knowledge into the trap of ideological polarization, but has also caused it to be divided between economic and jurisprudence perspectives. In the light of the changes that the world has seen over the last four decades, the paper suggests going beyond this posture in order to deal with the challenges facing Muslim societies, by studying each society separately, away from the myth of a magical solution and ready-made formula.
