Abstract

combineall sweeps a directory and combines every file of one type (.dta, CSV and other delimited text, Excel, or XML) into a single dataset by append, merge, or joinby, or converts the files to .dta and stops (convertonly). The engine dates to 2011 (v1.0.0). v2.0.0 adds a harmonization layer under cmethod(append) for stacking yearly file releases whose element names mutate across vintages: map(renames.csv) applies only the renames whose [firstyear,lastyear] window covers the 4-digit year extracted from each filename, generates int year, records provenance in char varname[source], and prints a variable-by-year harmonization table. strict turns absent-oldname reports into errors. Replaces the panelstack package. combineall using "built/panel", cmethod(append) map(renames.csv)
