WEBAPI: Stata module to fetch an authenticated JSON web API into Stata as a dataset

Abstract

A small, dependency-free generalisation of the "web API from Stata" pattern: a request to a URL, an authentication step (bearer token, API key, or HTTP basic), and a JSON reply parsed back into variables and observations. The HTTP + auth + JSON-to-table work is done by a Python standard-library helper, so no pip packages or virtualenv are required -- only a working python3 on the PATH. Syntax: webapi get using "URL", records("data") [options]; and webapi post using "URL", body("json") [options].
