RECODE12: Stata module to standardize 1/2-coded variables as labeled 0/1 indicators

Abstract

recode12 standardizes eligible numeric variables coded 1/2 as labeled 0/1 indicators. The command requires the user to specify which source value becomes Yes/1, preserves ordinary system missing values, skips variables that do not satisfy the coding rule, supports generated-variable and replace modes, and verifies the resulting mapping and value range. The package includes documentation, an example dataset, an example do-file, and a test do-file.
