Abstract

Die Weser-Ems-Region ist traditionell eine stark von der maritimen Wirtschaft geprägte Region im Norden Deutschlands. Sie beherbergt einen erheblichen und ausgesprochen wichtigen Teil der maritimen Wirtschaft Deutschlands. Zur maritimen Wirtschaft zählen insbesondere Reedereien, Häfen, die Schiffbauindustrie, maritime Dienstleistungen und die Offshore-Windenergie. Zur maritimen Wirtschaft werden aber auch Forschungs-, Bildungs- und Netzwerkeinrichtungen, die sich mit maritimer Wirtschaft beschäftigen, gerechnet. Die regionale Bedeutung der maritimen Wirtschaft wird aus der amtlichen Statistik nicht unmittelbar deutlich, da sie hier keinen eigenen Wirtschaftszweig bildet, sondern sich ihre Akteure auf verschiedene Wirtschaftszweige verteilen. Die Bedeutung der maritimen Wirtschaft in der Weser-Ems-Region reicht zudem deutlich über die Region und die eigene Branche hinaus, steht sie doch in enger Verbindung zu anderen Wirtschaftsbereichen und liefert die notwendige Infrastruktur und Dienstleistungen, die einen Handel zwischen Deutschland und dem Rest der Welt erst ermöglicht. Die vorliegende Studie macht dies anhand von Zahlenmaterial aus unterschiedlichsten Quellen sichtbar.
