Abstract

Die Mitgliedstaaten der Europäischen Union haben sich im Rahmen der "Offenen Methode der Koordinierung" auf gemeinsame Kennzahlen für den Sozialbereich geeinigt. Damit sollen fundierteempirische Grundlagen für die nationalstaatlichen Politiken und Initiativen auf EU-Ebene geschaffen werden. Die jährlich in allen EU-Mitgliedsstaaten durchgeführten EU-SILC-Erhebungen (Statistics on Income and Living Conditions) zu Einkommen, Armut und Lebensbedingungen privater Haushalte in Europa sind eine wichtige Entscheidungsgrundlage für die österreichische Sozial- und Arbeitsmarktpolitik. Band 2 der Sozialpolitischen Studienreihe fasst zwei Studien der Statistik Austria zur sozialen Lage in Österreich zusammen: In der EU-SILC-Studie wird in Anlehnung an die EU-Armutsdefinition, die einigen der gemeinsamen EU-Kennzahlen zugrunde liegt, im stärkeren Ausmaß der Blickwinkel auf die Verteilung der Einkommen und der finanziellen Teilhabemöglichkeiten gelegt. In der Studie "Eingliederungsindikatoren" wurde der Schwerpunkt auf nicht monetäre Teilhabemöglichkeiten gelegt.
