Abstract

Das deutsche Bildungssystem eröffnet im Anschluss an die berufliche Erstausbildung zahlreiche Wege zur weiteren Qualifizierung. Aufstiegsfortbildungen werden tradtionell als Weiterbildungsmöglichkeit für Personen vorgesehen, die die allgemein bildende Schule ohne Studienberechtigung verlassen haben. Um diesem Personenkreis einen Hochschulgang zu eröffnen und so die starre Trennung zwischen beruflicher und allgemeiner Bildung zu lockern, wurden in jüngerer Vergangenheit verstärkt Möglichkeiten geschaffen, Studienberechtigungen nachzuholen. Auf Grundlage der BIBB-IAB-Erhebung (1998/1999) beschäftigt sich die Untersuchung mit der Frage, wie häufig diese beiden Qualifizierungsmöglichkeiten von den Erwerbstätigen unterschiedlicher Alterskohorten genutzt wurden. Durch einen Vergleich zwischen den Kohorten werden Veränderungstendenzen der Bildungsströme aufgezeigt. (BIBB)
