Abstract

Die ökonomischen und sozialen Lebensrealitäten und Chancen von Frauen und Männern in Österreich unterscheiden sich, wie anhand von sechs Gleichstellungsdimensionen aufgezeigt wird. Geschlechtsspezifische Bildungsverläufe und die ungleiche Verteilung von bezahlter und unbezahlter Arbeit führen zu einer geringen finanziellen Unabhängigkeit von Frauen im Lebensverlauf. Neben diesen drei Dimensionen werden auch die mangelnde Repräsentation und Partizipation von Frauen in Politik, Wirtschaft und Medien, die Auswirkungen des Lebensumfelds auf den Gesundheitszustand sowie die Betroffenheit von Gewalt dargestellt.
