Abstract

Forecasts for the Austrian construction industry point to a slight decline in 2023. Despite the downward trend, construction costs are at a high level and rising financing costs in particular are dampening the development of the Austrian construction industry. New residential construction will be particularly affected. The decline in the Austrian construction industry is expected to intensify slightly in 2024 and the construction industry is not likely to benefit from the improved macroeconomic environment until 2025.
