Bericht über die Bedeutung, Entwicklung und Struktur von Tourismus und Freizeitwirtschaft in Österreich im Jahr 2020

Abstract

Laut Konzept des Tourismus-Satellitenkontos beliefen sich die Tourismusausgaben in- und ausländischer Gäste in Österreich 2020 auf 26,5 Mrd. € (Schätzung, –29,6% gegen 2019). Die resultierenden direkten und indirekten Wertschöpfungseffekte von 20,5 Mrd. € (–31,0%) trugen 5,5% zum BIP bei. Zudem waren 2020 schätzungsweise rund 216.800 Vollarbeitsplätze (Erwerbstätige) oder 5,6% der bundesweiten Gesamtbeschäftigung direkt oder indirekt mit der Tourismuswirtschaft verbunden. Der Reiseverkehrssaldo laut Zahlungsbilanz schrumpfte 2020 auf +8,7 Mrd. € (–18,2%; Exporte –41,3%, Importe –61,0%; nominell, einschließlich internationaler Personentransport). Der Marktanteil Österreichs an den nominellen Tourismusexporten der EU 28 lag 2020 schätzungsweise bei 7,6% (neue historische Höchstmarke nach 1995 mit 7,4%), was erneut Rang 6 bedeutet. In der nichttouristischen Freizeitwirtschaft wurden 2020 schätzungsweise 35,5 Mrd. € Umsatz (–16,9%) sowie direkte und indirekte Effekte von 24,7 Mrd. € an Wertschöpfung (–17,8%) und von 240.300 Erwerbstätigen zu Vollzeitäquivalenten (–17,6%) erzielt. Damit leistete die Freizeitwirtschaft einen Beitrag von 6,6% zum BIP und von 6,2% zur Gesamtbeschäftigung.
