Abstract

The 82nd Euroconstruct conference findings suggest only modest construction growth for the years 2016 to 2019, less than previously forecasted. Non-residential construction is still at the very early stage of its recovery process. Forecasts in civil engineering had to be revised downwards, largely reflecting weaker prospects in Eastern Europe. Moreover, countries with fiscal imbalances like Portugal and Spain but also UK are expected to resize the infrastructure programmes. From a sectoral point of view, only the forecast for residential construction has been revised upwards, especially in 2016. The Euroconstruct Summary Report provides a macroeconomic analysis and an overview of the European construction industry by sectors (housing, non-residential construction and civil engineering; new and renovation, respectively) up to 2019. – With contributions by Anders Bjerre, Josep R. Fontana, Jean-Pierre Liebaert, Sergi Martrat, Markku Riihimäki.
