Abstract

Die Tourismusausgaben von in- und ausländischen Gästen in Österreich beliefen sich 2024 auf der konzeptionellen Basis eines Tourismus-Satellitenkontos auf geschätzt 38,8 Mrd. € (+5,6% gegenüber 2023). Daraus resultierten direkte und indirekte Wertschöpfungseffekte von 30,3 Mrd. € (+4,7%). Die Tourismuswirtschaft trug damit nominell 6,3% zum Bruttoinlandsprodukt bei. Die tourismusbedingte Beschäftigung lag 2024 bei rund 282.000 Vollzeitäquivalenten, das entspricht 6,9% der Erwerbstätigen insgesamt (auf der Basis von Vollzeitäquivalenten). Die Zahl der Nächtigungen stieg 2024 auf 154,3 Mio. (+2,1% zu 2023) und lag damit erstmals über dem Vorkrisenniveau von 2019 (+1,1%). Auch die Ankünfte erreichten mit 46,7 Mio. einen neuen Höchststand (+3,3%, 2019/2024 ebenfalls +1,1%). Der nominelle Reiseverkehrssaldo (Exporte minus Importe, einschließlich internationaler Personentransport) erhöhte sich zwar auf knapp +10,0 Mrd. € (+5,7%), verringerte sich jedoch in einer preisbereinigten Betrachtung um über ein Zehntel. Österreich behauptete sich 2024 mit nominellen Pro-Kopf-Einnahmen aus dem internationalen Reiseverkehr von 2.640 € erneut unter den Top 5 von 42 Destinationen.
