Österreichische Umwelttechnikindustrie. Export und Wettbewerbsfähigkeit (Kurzfassung)

Abstract

Die vorliegende Arbeit analysiert die Entwicklung der österreichischen Umwelttechnikindustrie über einen Zeitraum von fast 20 Jahren. Laut Hochschätzung stiegen die Zahl der Unternehmen von 1993 bis 2011 von 248 auf 390 und der Umsatz von 1,5 Mrd. € auf 8,2 Mrd. €. Die Beschäftigung hat sich im selben Zeitraum mehr als verdoppelt (von 11.000 auf rund 29.000 Arbeitskräfte). Die zunehmende Internationalisierung der Branche zeigt sich in einem kontinuierlichen Anstieg der Exportquote. Im Zuge eines Strukturwandels gewinnen in der Branche saubere Technologien – insbesondere im Bereich Energie – gegenüber nachgelagerten Technologien immer mehr an Gewicht. Die Analyse ergab zudem in der österreichischen Umwelttechnikindustrie eine überdurchschnittliche Forschungs- und Innovationsintensität.
