72nd Euroconstruct Conference: European Construction Market – Recovery Further Delayed. Summary Report

Abstract

The European construction market will not experience growth before 2013. The civil engineering industry suffers most from the current debt crisis and public consolidation efforts. Of all construction sectors, it therefore shows the strongest decline. But also non-residential construction output is expected to shrink in 2011 and 2012 – the continuing uncertainty about the economic situation and the downward revision of the overall economic prospects for 2012 exert a downward pressure on this segment. Renovation, also in the housing sector, remains a stabiliser of the European construction industry. The Euroconstruct Summary Report provides a macroeconomic analysis and an overview of the European construction industry by sectors (housing, non-residential construction and civil engineering, new and renovation, respectively) up to 2014. The Summary Report additionally includes selected speeches and presentations of the 72nd Euroconstruct Conference held in Paris in November 2011.
