Abstract

Die Verschuldungssituation der privaten Haushalte fand in den letzten Jahren international verstärkt wirtschaftspolitisches Interesse. Ein Hauptproblem der Beschäftigung mit Fragen der Haushaltsverschuldung in Österreich ist der Mangel an statistischen Grundlagen. Vor diesem Hintergrund präsentiert die vorliegende Studie eine Zusammenstellung fundierter und teilweise neu erhobener Daten zur Verschuldung privater Haushalte, wie sie in diesem Umfang bisher nicht verfügbar waren. Primäre Zielsetzung ist dabei die Objektivierung der Diskussionsgrundlagen zu den wesentlichen ökonomischen Faktoren der Verschuldungsproblematik.
