Abstract

Gemäß der First-Mover-Hypothese können Umweltregulierungen und umweltbezogene Politikmaßnahmen die Sicherung und Verbesserung der Wettbewerbsposition von Unternehmen oder Branchen unterstützen. Diese These stellt damit etwa die traditionelle Argumentation in Frage, nach der eine strenge Umweltpolitik im allgemeinen vor allem mit Kostensteigerungen in der Produktion und daher mit Wettbewerbsnachteilen und Beschäftigungsverlusten in Verbindung stehen.
