Abstract

Variability in the exchange rates of the world's key currencies is a matter of concern to the SEACEN and other developing countries. This paper provides some quantitative evidence on the volatility of the exchange rates of key currencies during the decade of the eighties, using some of the most popular measures of variability. It also incorporates other relevant findings of some economists and international institutions.
