Abstract

En este libro se examinan las condiciones que explican el dinamismo de redes de producción en la pequeña industria, evaluando su contribución al desarrollo local y a la reducción de la pobreza urbana en el Perú. La elaboración teórica descansa en los conceptos de economías externas, distritos industriales e inserción social de la actividad económica, ofreciendo una interpretación alternativa. El libro presenta los resultados de la investigación realizada en dos distintos distritos del país (Villa El Salvador, en Lima, y El Porvenir, en Trujillo) y concluye afirmando la necesidad de concentrar apoyo especializado en aquellas redes con mayor potencial de crecimiento y eslabonamientos más fuertes en la economía local. La investigación pone de relieve la vitalidad de empresas e instituciones con raíces sociales como el fundamento de la democracia y el desarrollo.
