Abstract

Este libro es una contribución al análisis económico de tres elementos sustanciales en el funcionamiento de la economía campesina: la diversidad productiva, el cambio técnico y el crédito. Trata de los aspectos principales que explican, por un lado, la lenta modernización campesina y, por otro, las limitaciones de las políticas económicas que, al no tomar en cuenta sus características específicas, tienen escasa incidencia en sus niveles de bienestar. En conjunto, y desde distintas perspectivas, los estudios incluidos en este volumen buscan abrir nuevos derroteros en la investigación económica agraria. Antes que respuestas definitivas, plantean nuevas preguntas, que aguardan futuros esfuerzos de investigación, en tres temas cruciales para el diseño de políticas económicas.
