Abstract

Las contribuciones de este volumen intentan expresar el reconocimiento y el homenaje a Efraín Gonzales de Olarte, entrañable integrante de nuestra comunidad universitaria, una persona comprometida con la investigación y la formación de varias generaciones de profesionales y ciudadanos, dedicada al fortalecimiento de la educación en nuestro país, tanto dentro como fuera de las aulas. El quehacer académico de Efraín, doctor en Economía y profesor emérito de la PUCP, cubre un amplio espectro, tanto en las áreas temáticas abordadas en este libro como en las diversas funciones que desempeñó: investigador, docente, consultor y autoridad académica. A lo largo de su destacada trayectoria, caracterizada por la consistencia, la continuidad y la calidad de su producción intelectual, así como por su liderazgo, Efraín ha publicado numerosos libros y artículos que examinan problemas esenciales relacionados con la estructura económica y el territorio, la pobreza rural, la economía campesina, la descentralización y el desarrollo humano. Sus investigaciones han contribuido significativamente a una mejor comprensión de la economía política del desarrollo, especialmente en la importancia de las instituciones económicas para el bienestar de nuestras sociedades.
