La economía China y las industrias extractivas: desafíos para el Perú

Abstract

La emergencia de China como una potencia tiene gran relevancia para el desarrollo de América Latina y del Perú, especialmente en medio de la más grave recesión mundial ocurrida desde la década de 1930. China se ha convertido en el segundo socio comercial del Perú después de los Estados Unidos, y se espera que su presencia aumente luego de la suscripción de un tratado de libre comercio en el 2009. ¿Estamos preparados para este nuevo escenario? ¿Cuánto sabemos sobre China, sus estrategias de inversión y las empresas chinas que operan en nuestro país? Los dos trabajos presentados aquí son pioneros en el intento de responder a estas interrogantes. Analizan la expansión de la economía china en general y de sus inversiones en América Latina, con énfasis en el Perú y el sector minero.
