Abstract

En este libro el lector encontrará las principales teorías y modelos que permiten entender los efectos de la política monetaria sobre la actividad económica, así como la manera más adecuada de manejar estas políticas. Los primeros seis capítulos tratan sobre lo que comúnmente se entiende como teoría monetaria, es decir, el funcionamiento del mercado financiero, la determinación de las tasas de interés y del tipo de cambio, y la oferta y la demanda de dinero. Los ocho capítulos siguientes tratan sobre política monetaria, esto es, el proceso de transmisión, la inflación, las reglas monetarias y las metas de inflación. Los temas de teoría monetaria están ilustrados con datos de la economía peruana y, en algunos casos, de otros países de América Latina. El análisis de las políticas monetarias contiene amplias referencias a la experiencia de los países desarrollados y a la del Perú.
