Abstract

Esta obra responde a uno de los objetivos del Instituto Interamericano para el Desarrollo Social (INDES) que es servir de foro de discusión sobre políticas sociales y experiencias valiosas en gerencia social de la región. Con ello se pretende hacer un aporte al fortalecimiento de las capacidades de los países del área para avanzar en reformas sociales democráticas, equitativas y sostenibles. Este libro representa una importante contribución a la discusión actual sobre cuál debe y puede ser la orientación de la futura política social en América Latina y el Caribe. Si bien la región se ha caracterizado en sus últimas décadas por una innumerable cantidad de reformas en sus sectores sociales, muchas de ellas han carecido de un norte o imaginario social que les diera sentido y coherencia. Justamente, este libro es un significativo avance para identificar caminos alternativos e iniciar la construcción de bases programáticas para una nueva orientación de la política social en la región.
