El centro tradicional de Bogotá. Valor de uso popular y patrimonio arquitectónico de la ciudad

Abstract

La vida de miles de bogotanos gravita alrededor del centro tradicional de la ciudad. Probablemente la de cientos de colombianos. Otros lugares de la ciudad, algunos con alguna tradición histórica, le han entablado una constante competencia espacial al centro tradicional en disputa de sus residentes y, en general, de las actividades humanas que allí se realizan. Además de esta competencia, el centro acoge a una diversidad de agentes interesados en vivir en él y de él, hasta configurarse en una zona de innegable valor de uso popular, de la mayor trascendencia socio-política para nuestra sociedad. A esa dinámica se suman los notables esfuerzos estatales y de algunos residentes organizados para conservar los activos inmobiliarios en los que reposa una parte de nuestra historia reciente. Este libro se ocupa de analizar y dejar memoria sobre estos fenómenos.
